About Comfort Care Homes of Kansas City

Where Alzheimer’s care feels right at home.

Most people with memory loss disorders don’t require regimented medical care.  Yet, when you consider options for care of your loved one, you often find options that feel like a hospital or nursing center.  That’s why ComfortCare Homes feel so different … and so right.

Residential, not institutional.
ComfortCare Homes of Kansas City are real residential homes in Overland Park and Leawood.  Located on quiet neighborhood streets, these homes feature the familiar surroundings residents enjoy.  Each home has a secure fenced backyard with a walking path, and a patio or deck.

Locally owned.
Neil Barnett, President and owner of ComfortCare Homes, is the first point of contact for families… and remains engaged on a daily basis to assure that residents and their families are completely satisfied.  More than 25 years ago, Neil chose Kansas City as his home, and currently resides in Prairie Village.

Alison Allen, RN, MSN, FNP, MPH, co-owner, is a Nurse Practitioner with both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Public Health.  Alison brings to ComfortCare Homes the professional experience of more than 20 years in public health … as well as the practical experience as a mother of five children.

Locally operated.
Unlike large corporate facilities, with offices often in distant cities, our office is in Prairie Village … just minutes from each Comfort Care Home.  Families are always welcome to meet with Neil or Alison in the office. You’re also likely to run into them at one of the homes … where Neil and Alison are familiar faces to residents and families alike.

Smaller.
When dealing with memory loss disorders, a bigger facility is not better.  In fact, it’s quite the opposite.  That’s why each ComfortCare Home typically has five residents or less sharing an individual home with a well-trained and compassionate CareTeam.

More familiar.
Everything about a ComfortCare Home is designed to make the surroundings familiar, maintain consistency in care, foster links with the past and reduce confusion and anxiety.  Residents thrive in this low-stress environment … often requiring less anxiety medication, and regaining lost independence.

More personal.
Each ComfortCare Home has its own CareTeam, with a 5-to-1 resident-to-caregiver ratio at all times.  This way, our staff gets to know residents individually – not only their medical needs, but also their likes and dislikes, personal interests, families and life stories.

Specialized care.
Because ComfortCare Homes focus exclusively on memory loss disorders, our CareGivers are specially trained to meet the physical, social and emotional needs of residents.

Round-the-clock attention.
CareGivers are always ready to serve the needs of residents.
